Young Leader Unit
 
The Young Leader unit meets once a month on Sunday afternoon (5.15pm to 6.45pm) to provide training and development for 14-18yr olds working with the younger scouting sections. This training and coaching is for any young person working with Beavers/Cubs or Scouts.

Young Leader Fundamentals
Please note the following:-

  • You MUST complete Module A as soon as you start helping with Beavers, Cubs or Scouts
  • If you are NOT a regular Explorer Scout, you must be registered as an Explorer Young Leader 
  • You MUST have a break of at least 6 months before going back to help at Scouts (or Explorers)

 
Young Leader Service for DofE Award?

You can use Young Leader service towards the Volunteering part of the DofE award.  We have put together a progressive way for you to do this. So you can continue your YL commitment through the levels of award
 
BRONZE = complete Module A + 2 others (not G or H)
SILVER = complete Module G + 3 others (not A or H)
GOLD = complete Module H + 2 others (not A or G)

 

For any service completed:-

  • Your YL Unit Leader needs to sign off the training part of your DofE book
  • The Section leader you are helping needs to complete the comments about your service completed
